CCTV Network Video Recorder

I got this NVR/DVR to review from the company JOOAN as i wanted to link it up to my existing cameras that were just simply shooting video but not recording.

As a straightforward DVR recording to a SSD/HHD (which need to be purchased separately), it's fine and probably deserves 5 stars for the price.

If that's all you need then this is very good value.

The DVR unit is by no means silent with the SSD/HDD installed but it's not loud enough to most people.

Networking is a bit more tricky as you would expect however, once working through the list of items and the entering my details for various mail servers (i use gmail), i can confirm that all the components appear to be working well.

I would certainly recommend doing a firmware check first of all however, as once the new firmware was installed, i had to enter all my details again. My fault for being impatient!

The cameras can be accessed over local network (LAN) using a browser but won't work on Chrome as it doesn't support the required plugin. Firefox is OK but Internet Explorer will give you remote access to the NVR/DVR user interface as well and it's a lot easier than using the DVR/monitor/mouse directly.

Make sure that your PC and NVR/DVR are both on the network (i do this with the help of PowerLine adapters) and type in the local address assigned to the DVR into your browser.

You’ll almost certainly need to set up port forwarding on your router to let the NVR/DVR access the internet through its Firewall. I would suggest doing some research on the internet first before diving into port forwarding on your router.

My last thought for this would be:

If you need something to records and transmit cameras over the web, whilst having the functionality to connect the DVR with HDMI to your TV or monitors at home - then get this.

If you simply need to records CCTV via IPCamera'ss and you have a spare or large enough hard drive - Get BlueIris.

That being said, i give this item 5* for functionality and use.
