I have been after a GoPro for ages and when i was sent this Pictek Waterproof Underwater Camera i could not wait to give it a go.
Granted, i wasn't about to drive 2 hours to the nearest beach, don my scuba gear and go photographing Brighton's finest underwater treasures, however i did venture outside to my garden, sat on the bench and began to look for 'actiony' things to do and shoot.
I am always unsure with a new bits of tech especially when they involve being put together. Does the bracket fit here, does the case go here etc....
Therefore, when i was received this bit of kit in the box i could see that it was already built and together.
Great i thought, but when i finally opened it up, there was a plethora of add ons and screws and pads and straps that could be added to the item to make it 'complete'.
You do end up with a lot of stuff all over the table whilst you decide what activity you will be partaking in and what accesorry you will need and where it goes.
After trying to figure out how to remove the camera from the underwater casing for 20 minutes! (you need to slide across the tab on top and lift from the BACK not the front) i finally started to put bit and pieces together.
I had a quick browse through the instructions which didn't really help and therefore decided i was on my own.
Eventually i got a good combination and the camera is now housed in a black holder with a sticky pad base and extra clip to connect the 2 together. After looking at the instructions again briefly, i have noted that this design was there to be made and i could've saved somet ime following the instructions.
The camera itself is a Full HD 1080 camera that feels robust and looks great.
The picutres and videos that come out seem crisp, but please note that you will need a microSD card for this to work. It does not come with on in the box and the sizes it recognizes are 8GB - 32GB.
The camera is easy to navigate through. You have on at the front and then the menu and up and down plus OK. It's farily easy.
I have not used the App with it as yet, however this looks fairly easy to pair up with and the passwords for the pairing of the wifi are in the manual and the device itself under settings.
All in all, i really like this. I do not have a Go Pro to compare it to, but i really don't need to seeing as this does everything that i heard the Go Pro does for a lot less money.
